The Type 17 auger point and narrow body penetrate softwood and plastic-wood composite decking material. They cut threads into drilled holes as they're turned, so they require less driving torque and cause less stress on material than thread-forming screws.Â
Square drive is designed to reduce the risk of cam-out and allow single-handed installation.
