DIY Wolverine Paw created using MyoWare electronic sensors
A new electronic sensor, called MyoWare, is currently available on the Kickstarter website and has been used to create a pair of DIY Wolverine paws that can be controlled by simply displaying your muscles. The MyoWare device was at Geeky Gadgets earlier this month, but this week its creators have announced these terrible DIY Wolverine claws. The claws are created using the innovative MyoWare Muscle Sensor Platform, which is also compatible with Arduino and can be used by you to expand it. MyoWare measures the potential of muscle activity through muscle and is often referred to as electromyography (EMG). When your brain tells you that your muscles are elastic, it will have an electrical signal sent to your muscles and begin recruiting motor units (muscle fibers produce a pack of power in your muscles). The more you bend, the more athletic units are hired to generate greater muscle strength. The number of athletic units is greater, and more muscle electrical activity increases. MyoWare will analyze this electrical activity and the output of the analog signal represents how difficult it is to bend the muscles.
