According to the local agricultural machinery management department, the total power of agricultural machinery in Ningxia reached 6.1 million kilowatts last year, the number of agricultural tractors was over 180,000, and the number of agricultural machinery reached 200,000. The matching ratio reached 1:1.1; the main crops in the region were cultivated and harvested. The comprehensive mechanization rate reached 43%, 2% higher than the national average.
Ningxia is located in the northwestern ethnic areas. Twenty years ago, there were less than 70,000 agricultural machines of various types, and the total power was only 1.5 million kilowatts. The traditional “two-cattle bar†and horse-pull donkey pull were quite common. Since the 1990s, especially in recent years, national and local governments have implemented subsidies for agricultural machinery purchases, which has led to an exponential increase in the number of agricultural machinery in Ningxia and a rapid increase in the level of agricultural mechanization.
This year, Ningxia has implemented subsidies for purchasing farm machinery for 42 million yuan. The subsidies cover all cities and counties in the region. At the same time, 20 agricultural mechanization demonstration parks have been built, and the promotion of agricultural machinery and other weak links in agricultural facilities has been intensified. It is expected that the total power of agricultural machinery will be increased. To reach 6.4 million kilowatts, the comprehensive mechanization rate of the main crops will be raised to 45%.
