How to calculate the return sand ratio?

The sand return ratio can be calculated using the results of the screening of the grader feed (i.e., the mill discharge) and the product (i.e., overflow and return sand). The formula is as follows:

S=[ba)/(ac)]×100%

Where: a - in the ore -0.074 mm fractional content

C—returning sand -0.074 mm fractional content%

B—overflow-0.074 mm fractional content%

For example: sieve analysis results a = 28%; c = 20%; b = 60%, then the sand return ratio is:

S=[(60-28)/(28-20)]×100%=400%

If the original ore amount of the grinding machine is 30 tons/hour, the amount of sand returned is 30×4=120 tons/hour.
