Texas Instruments Introduces ADC Drivers to Increase Performance-Power Ratio by 8X

Recently, Texas Instruments (TI) announced the introduction of fully differential analog-to-digital converter (ADC) drivers, which improved the performance-to-power ratio by more than 8 times compared to similar devices, redefining the low-power amplifier market. With a quiescent current of only 250 uA and a bandwidth of 36 MHz, the THS4531 fully differential amplifier can fully meet the high performance and ultra-low power requirements of portable high-density systems such as flow meters and portable medical devices.

THS4531's main features and advantages:

• 36 MHz bandwidth, 220 V/us slew rate, and 0.01% to 150 ns fast settling time for driving high sample rate converters to reduce data acquisition time;

• 0.5 uA power-down mode current, 250 uA quiescent current, and 2.5 V to 5 V wide operating supply support battery-operated operation and highly flexible power supply selection;

• Supports 16-bit accuracy that drives ADCs such as the ADS8317 and ADS1278 as well as other DC-coupled applications;

• Highly flexible negative rail input common-mode and rail-to-rail outputs simplify interface design with single-ended ground source and differential SAR register and ∆∑-type ADC;

• Size is only 2mm x 2mm, is the industry's smallest high-speed full-differential amplifier for high-density applications.

Tools and Support The THS4531DGKEVM evaluation board is now available to accelerate the evaluation of the THS4531. In addition, the PSPICE and TINA-TI Spice models and the TINA-TI reference design are provided in sync.

Availability and Packaging The THS4531 is available now, with 2mm x 2mm QFN, 3mm x 5mm MSOP, and 5mm x 6mm SOIC package options.
