Japan's Sodick developed a nano-scale cutting machine

Sodick Corporation of Japan has developed a new machine tool that can reduce the vibration during processing to 1/10 of the past and can perform nano-scale machining. By providing shock-free components that act in the machine direction and in the opposite direction, the recoil force during machining is offset. The acceleration that determines the processing efficiency is also increased to 15 times or more, and the machining accuracy and processing efficiency are improved.

The new machine name is called "AZ150", and the movable part is equipped with a self-produced linear motor, which realizes the vibration-proof function. As a machine tool, when a movable part equipped with a tool or the like is moved, the higher the acceleration, the greater the recoil force on the body, and the lower the precision.

The vibration-free device of this equipment moves in the opposite direction by the linear motor when the movable portion equipped with the rotary cutter moves forward and backward. The reverse motion is used to counteract the recoil caused by the acceleration during machining.
