Yangzi Petrochemical's ethylene glycol plant produces an annual output of 240,000 tons of equivalent ethylene oxide, generating approximately 16 tons of carbon dioxide gas per hour in the hydration reaction of the plant. In April 2008, Yangzi Petrochemical introduced advanced carbon dioxide removal technology to transform the plant during major overhaul, but still produced about 12 tons of carbon dioxide gas per hour, except that 4 tons was sent to the waste alkali plant of olefin plants for waste alkali neutralization, and the rest 8 Tons of gas are discharged into the atmosphere, causing a waste of resources. With the start of the joint venture of Yangzi Petrochemical and BP to build an annual acetic acid project with a capacity of 500,000 tons, the carbon monoxide project of its supporting project will be launched. Yangzi Petrochemical employees Zhou Changqing and others proposed the rationalization of the use of the exhaust gas carbon dioxide emitted by the glycol plant as an auxiliary raw material for the carbon monoxide plant, which was put into practice in 2009. In April of this year, the new carbon dioxide compressor project was completed and completed. In July of this year, as the carbon monoxide plant was completed and put into production, the surplus carbon dioxide gas from the ethylene plant of the olefin plant was sent to the carbon monoxide plant as a raw material for production through the new carbon dioxide compressor and pipeline system. So far, the carbon dioxide of the glycol plant has been fully recycled.
